Welcome! (and plans for the future)
« Thread started on: Nov 5th, 2009, 2:06pm »

Aside from the things detailed on the introduction sticky, and various other stickies throughout important boards, I have some big plans for this site.

Once we've started the democratic process off, we can start building a solidified cannon of properties for the world of DA/D&B. Once some of the more important issues have been dealt with, and our roleplay world is defined and fleshed out, we can start roleplaying seriously. With a cemented mythos comes ideas for new campaigns; real and meaningful plots, quests, missions and so on, all spanning multiple threads and interweaving many individual stories.

We also have making the city map to look forward to, which will of course be used for the territorial combat system in which any clan, bloodline, faction, coven, gang or syndicate can partake in.

Then there's the rather more distant ideas I have for OPTIONAL tabletop-style roleplay, involving storytellers (AKA GMs, DMs) or dice rolls based on statistics that you get to choose and distribute for the purpose of roleplay here on D&B. Nothing too complicated, I promise you, but a further step away from chaotic freeform would be a positive step, at least in my mind. If you prefer more freeform roleplay, remember you can always join RBRP, our sister site.

And then there are the ideas I have involving external pages linked to D&B which keep the theme of the site while allowing for me to flex my basic PHP coding skills for a variety of uses, which will become apparent in time.

Of course I'm still making adjustments here and there, so if you're confused about the purpose of one of the boards or one of the hints I've dropped for future plans, be a little patient and you'll see soon enough.

While we're on the subject, some of you might be wondering why RBRP historical has changed to Dead and Buried. I approached Britt (Shini) about a week back with an offer, and we came to a deal. No, the new RBRP is not mine, but this board now is. I've agreed to keep all historical roleplay from the old RBRP, and I've agreed to keep various links up to the new RBRP, offering it as a clear alternative to boost the membership of our sister site. This forum as it stood was wasted. It has massively high search engine rankings, heavy traffic, and a massive member count already. As such, myself and Shini decided that doing something with RBRP historical whilst retaining links to the new forum would be of benefit to us both. The alternative was a dwindling of this forum's search engine rankings, which in turn would affect the new site.

This reasoning is, in turn, the same reasons I chose to host D&B here rather than creating a phpBB page on a remotely hosted server. We might make the switch one day to a better forum, but not for a while at least.

In case you missed the message on the home page, you can access all historical roleplay (from the old RBRP) by logging in as "Historian" with the password "history". You might also enjoy playing around with the chat box at the bottom of the screen, but be careful with it, because you can pretend to be anyone, and people often will. This is also on my list of things to work out.

So welcome, I guess. Any questions feel free to ask.
